PLEASE READ THIS! There is no tool for a sharpener to measure to ensure that a FBV sharpening is completely in a piece of steel. No worry, we've been doing FBVs longer than anyone else in the U.S., and we have a pretty good idea how many passes on our machine it takes to do a FBV sharpening. However, on the other hand, we don't like to do excessive passes because that wastes your steel and reduces the life of the runners. If you are sending in steel for sharpening and they already the FBV you are ordering in the steel, you don't have to do anything. If you are sending in steel that has something other than the FBV you are ordering, please use the Comment section on the checkout page to let us know something different is in there. Saying something like, "This set does not currently have a FBV sharpening" will suffice. When you let us know, we will then do extra passes to ensure the FBV gets established. If you don't let us know, in rare cases, it's possible your FBV won't come out correctly. We don't want that to happen so be sure to let us know in the comments when you order. Thank you.
Note: A normal sharpening does not include removal of deep nicks, chips or gouges. Extra fees may apply. We inspect each blade, if we think they are OK to skate on with no performance problems, we'll do a normal sharpening and ship them back to you. If you know your blades are in bad shape, you can select the "Remove Deep Nicks and Gouges" option.
Note: If you are sending in brand new out of the box steel that has never been sharpened before, the cost to sharpen new steel is not $7.75 It is $23.25, so you must order 3 FBV sharpenings, we do not have another way to order a first time FBV sharpening on new steel on this website.
Note: We know the webstore allows you to select "Blade Matching" with this regular sharpening but Blade Matching is only available with a custom radius. Blade Matching destroys a radius so a radius has to be done after doing the matching.

Won't go back
FBV with custom combo is the greatest thing for hockey. My son plays rep hockey. He has always complained that the local shop sharpenings didn't feel right. Now, since I have been sending his blades to get sharpened by NIS, no complaints at all. NIS has always been consistent with sharpenings. No more untrained teenagers sharpening my son's expensive skates ever again. I have switched too so that I can get an advantage in my over 35 league.

Don't leave home without it!
FBV sharpening and custom combo service from NIS is the best! I can't go back to conventional hollows - it feels like my blades are rusty compared to the glide of the FBV. NIS's FBV sharpening is absolutely better than any pro-shop offering FBV cuts that I have used. They are always returned with consistent edges giving super bite and super glide! At 54, I need every bit of help keeping up with the "youngsters" in the 35 + league! I rotate three sets of steel and send two sets back at a time. Factoring in fuel and time spent to go to the local shop for a sharpen, it really costs about the same, and the product is far superior, IMHO.

Perfect every time
I have 2 sets of steel so I always have a sharp set ready to go. Even if you only play recreationally, having good edges is an absolute necessity to having any fun on the ice. The sharpening and shipping costs are under $20 total. And with the better steel, the edges last much longer, so I find it very cost effective.

I don't get my blades sharpened every week, but when I do...
Like that commercial goes: "I don't get my blades sharpened every week, but when I do..." I swap my spare No Icing Sports/Skate Rescue custom combo radius FBV's and send them off for a refresh. For going on a decade now, I don't compete without my FBVs!

FBV Rocks!
I've been using an FBV hollow as long as No Icing Sports has been offering it and I must say that the impact was immediate!! As I get older I look for any advantage so that I can continue to compete at a high level. I would highly recommend that along with a custom radius you try the FBV option, you won't be disappointed. If you're unsure, talk to Bob, he a Genius! BTW at 44 I'm still one of the fastest guys on the ice.....

Custom FBV Sarpening
My son who is 15 plays AA midget and High School Varsity hockey. He156 had his skates profiled and sharpened at No-Icing Sports. He likes the job they do here and does not want them sharpened any where else. He highly recommends this service.

NO ICING FBV FTW
Converted to FBV several years ago and have not looked back. NIS-SRS not only provides sharpening repeatability BETTER than anywhere else, also has the best personal customer service, bar none.
