Product Description
PLEASE READ THIS! There is no tool for a sharpener to measure to ensure that a FBV sharpening is completely in a piece of steel. No worry, we've been doing FBVs longer than anyone else in the U.S., and we have a pretty good idea how many passes on our machine it takes to do a FBV sharpening. However, on the other hand, we don't like to do excessive passes because that wastes your steel and reduces the life of the runners. If you are sending in steel for sharpening and they already the FBV you are ordering in the steel, you don't have to do anything. If you are sending in steel that has something other than the FBV you are ordering, please use the Comment section on the checkout page to let us know something different is in there. Saying something like, "This set does not currently have a FBV sharpening" will suffice. When you let us know, we will then do extra passes to ensure the FBV gets established. If you don't let us know, in rare cases, it's possible your FBV won't come out correctly. We don't want that to happen so be sure to let us know in the comments when you order. Thank you.
Note: A normal sharpening does not include removal of deep nicks, chips or gouges. Extra fees may apply. We inspect each blade, if we think they are OK to skate on with no performance problems, we'll do a normal sharpening and ship them back to you. If you know your blades are in bad shape, you can select the "Remove Deep Nicks and Gouges" option.
Note: If you are sending in brand new out of the box steel that has never been sharpened before, the cost to sharpen new steel is not $7.75 It is $23.25, so you must order 3 FBV sharpenings, we do not have another way to order a first time FBV sharpening on new steel on this website.
Note: We know the webstore allows you to select "Blade Matching" with this regular sharpening but Blade Matching is only available with a custom radius. Blade Matching destroys a radius so a radius has to be done after doing the matching.

QUAD profile and FBV - Incredible
I couldn’t believe the difference this combo makes over a stock radius and ROH sharpening. I went QUAD 2, minor forward pitch, 90/75 FBV. Loved how “loose” the runners felt on the ice, but very grippy when I dug in to crossover or change directions. I ordered a 2nd pair sharpened FBV 100/50 to see if I prefer one over the other. End results - Skating faster after 2 uses, turning better, and keeping up with the college kids when they cut back hard. Speedy!

Just had it done 1st time skate Noticeable Improvement
I have just had my skates done , after 4yrs of a using a 9.5-10.5 radius w/ moderate pitch and 5/8 Hollow WENT to: a 6/8/12 combo/ -med forward pitch / & the FBV 90/70 and it was a nice noticeable difference ! and improved my General Overall Skating effectiveness ! and level of game being a 68 yr old Senior Tourney player and having fun and competing with my regular group . Thanks Bob & Anita. I would say follow the recommendations on the web site and give their process a try . It is a fair Value and quality result.!

FBV Sharpening at No Icing Sports
This type of sharpening works great for me. First time after sharpening, the blades are easy to stop with and yet have plenty of bite. No complaints that you normally get with conventional sharpening of being too sharp. Combined with a custom radius, they help my skating making me like I am 6 rather than 74! And--no one does it better than No Icing Sports! On occasion, I have had to have others do FBV sharpening and it never comes out as good. I use the mail process with No Icing--Priority Mail on Monday, blades are back in my mailbox on Wednesday.

Am I too old to get drafted?
After 40+ years of playing hockey I was amazed to discover what a huge difference proper sharpening makes. My fantastic TV claim would state "It took 20 years off my game!" The FBV cut somehow seems to compensate for my extra bulk. I'm sure I could have made it to the bigs with proper sharpening back in the day. If only my fancy carbon stick could do the same for the power and accuracy of my shot. . . I ship my blades from Iowa a couple times per year. I rotate between two pair of blades after my original pair were almost destroyed by my local sharpening hacks. Thank you Skate Rescue!!

Worth It
Might have to eat a little shipping cost, but it is worth it to know your skates are done correctly with consistency.
