PLEASE READ THIS! There is no tool for a sharpener to measure to ensure that a FBV sharpening is completely in a piece of steel. No worry, we've been doing FBVs longer than anyone else in the U.S., and we have a pretty good idea how many passes on our machine it takes to do a FBV sharpening. However, on the other hand, we don't like to do excessive passes because that wastes your steel and reduces the life of the runners. If you are sending in steel for sharpening and they already the FBV you are ordering in the steel, you don't have to do anything. If you are sending in steel that has something other than the FBV you are ordering, please use the Comment section on the checkout page to let us know something different is in there. Saying something like, "This set does not currently have a FBV sharpening" will suffice. When you let us know, we will then do extra passes to ensure the FBV gets established. If you don't let us know, in rare cases, it's possible your FBV won't come out correctly. We don't want that to happen so be sure to let us know in the comments when you order. Thank you.
Note: A normal sharpening does not include removal of deep nicks, chips or gouges. Extra fees may apply. We inspect each blade, if we think they are OK to skate on with no performance problems, we'll do a normal sharpening and ship them back to you. If you know your blades are in bad shape, you can select the "Remove Deep Nicks and Gouges" option.
Note: If you are sending in brand new out of the box steel that has never been sharpened before, the cost to sharpen new steel is not $7.75 It is $23.25, so you must order 3 FBV sharpenings, we do not have another way to order a first time FBV sharpening on new steel on this website.
Note: We know the webstore allows you to select "Blade Matching" with this regular sharpening but Blade Matching is only available with a custom radius. Blade Matching destroys a radius so a radius has to be done after doing the matching.

Great consistent sharpening all the time.
Love the service, When I get my blades back I always know they will be done right. the local people here charge less but almost always have one edge off. I also like the flat bottom V style. works well. What really helped me here was the custom combination radius they set up. that was a revelation that made my skating feel way more natural.

Awesome Result
I have been using Bob for a few years now. When I started with him I had a few issues with my skating efficiency and agility. I went over my problems with Bob and he recommended changing my rocker, radius and edge. I had great results almost immediately. My balance was the biggest improvement. Next was my pivots. One thing l noticed is that every sharpening gives you the exact same results each time. No awkwardness after a fresh sharpening. I started taking this for granted and handed my skates over to my local rink for a quick sharpening before a game. In a few swipes they erased the entire setup and it was like I was skating in someone else's skates. Lesson learned. I'm sticking with No Icing for my sharpening from now on. My setup: Graf 705, V-Steel, neutral, 8'/12', FBV 100/50.

Worth it!!
I am not a good or fast skater by any means. I decided to try the FBV to see if it would improve my skating at all. I noticed the difference from the first second I stepped on the ice. Definitely worth it.

No Icing Sports and the FBV are top notch
I have been using Bob and No-Icing as my exclusive skate sharpening outfit for years....i started employing their services when i was living in Hawaii (yes, there's hockey in Hawaii)and have never gone with anyone else since. the difference of the FBV style of sharpening is really palpable compared to the traditional way. i prefer it now as much as the my first test run with it when Bob first offered it. you can feel the difference in the amount of effort you DONT use while gliding around the ice. will it make me an elite hockey player? no....but neither will a composite stick. i like the FBV and reccommend that you all give it a shot....cant hurt! Better than your local guy
Been getting blades sharpened by No Icing Sports for 6+ years now. Been using FBV for about the last 4 years. Quality of sharpening and radius are always superb at No Icing Sports. Service always prompt. In addition, I always get great advise when I reach out to Robert regarding new hollow, trying new custom radius etc.
