PLEASE READ THIS! There is no tool for a sharpener to measure to ensure that a FBV sharpening is completely in a piece of steel. No worry, we've been doing FBVs longer than anyone else in the U.S., and we have a pretty good idea how many passes on our machine it takes to do a FBV sharpening. However, on the other hand, we don't like to do excessive passes because that wastes your steel and reduces the life of the runners. If you are sending in steel for sharpening and they already the FBV you are ordering in the steel, you don't have to do anything. If you are sending in steel that has something other than the FBV you are ordering, please use the Comment section on the checkout page to let us know something different is in there. Saying something like, "This set does not currently have a FBV sharpening" will suffice. When you let us know, we will then do extra passes to ensure the FBV gets established. If you don't let us know, in rare cases, it's possible your FBV won't come out correctly. We don't want that to happen so be sure to let us know in the comments when you order. Thank you.
Note: A normal sharpening does not include removal of deep nicks, chips or gouges. Extra fees may apply. We inspect each blade, if we think they are OK to skate on with no performance problems, we'll do a normal sharpening and ship them back to you. If you know your blades are in bad shape, you can select the "Remove Deep Nicks and Gouges" option.
Note: If you are sending in brand new out of the box steel that has never been sharpened before, the cost to sharpen new steel is not $7.75 It is $23.25, so you must order 3 FBV sharpenings, we do not have another way to order a first time FBV sharpening on new steel on this website.
Note: We know the webstore allows you to select "Blade Matching" with this regular sharpening but Blade Matching is only available with a custom radius. Blade Matching destroys a radius so a radius has to be done after doing the matching.

World Class -- Just Try It Once. Please.
Give Bob Coco a chance, just one chance, to give you a custom profile, and an FBV sharpening. If you don't like fine, but most, if not all, of us will never go anywhere else. Best part is that you KNOW the specs on your blades and Bob will help you tweak them for your playing style and the surface you're on. Not only is Bob a master of the craft, he's also a nice guy.

The sharpening at No Icing is the only way to go! Always a perfect job! How many times have you had your skates sharpened before a game,then steped out on the ice to find a crappy sharpen job? Not with No Icing! Always perfect! FVB and dual radius rocks!

Best profiling and sharpening
I've been using NoIcing to profile and sharpen my skates for over 2 years now and never had anything less than perfect service. Other than the occasional redo on the profile, the cost evens out to what it would be to drive and get a sharpening done at the local shop whose service was always a crap shoot dependent upon who happened to be there on a given day. And Bob once saw me through a problem with my blades that I had caused with great patience and help. Highly recommend the service no matter where you happen to be - I'm in California.

Better than any sharpening at a rink
Couldn't ask for a better sharpening, especially after getting my skates done at local rinks. It makes such a difference I'm going to start sending my kids skates to no-icing

Great sharpening choice
Bob suggested this sharpening method to me about 5 years ago. More speed and better bite yet right after sharpening there is no problem stopping. Combine this method with a custom radius (8 in the front half and 13 in the back half) gives me sharper turning ability and better speed backwards--I play D most of the time.This is a first class hockey shop run by people who know what they are doing. Highly recommended!

Best skating experience ever!
I'm 59 and have been playing since I was 15. I started using No icing and FBV two years ago. Bob was great with his advice and I still remember the first time I skated with brand new steel I purchased from them and had set up with a custom radius and FBV. In all the years I have been skating, I had NEVER had so much control! I emailed back the next day and thanked Bob . It is so well worth it, I will never let anyone else touch my blades now. I rotate 3 sets of steel now!
